Leslie Pinero - Oakcrest H.S.
“A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way.” – John C. Maxwell
My name is Leslie Pinero and I am a 17 year old junior at Oakcrest High School. Since freshmen year, I have made it a personal goal of mine to never let a day go to waste. As President of my class for the past three years, I have gained so much experience as a leader. I am an active member of Student Council, the Co-Vice President of the Girl’s Athletic Association the Corresponding Secretary of the Thespian Society, and a Varsity Scholar. Besides also balancing academics, Drama, tennis, choir, and Mock Trial, I always find time for family and friends.
Aside from living with my mom and my sister, Oakcrest is my second home. My high school is very important to me. I am known for being very school spirited; sometimes “too” spirited, but, for me, that’s not possible. There can never be “too much” of anything. I can never try too hard or do too much. In my eyes, I can always try harder and do more. No challenge is too big to at least attempt. To some, life is one big challenge. To me, life is one big opportunity.
Although I know when to be serious, I love being silly and just having fun. Having a sense of humor is key to my daily life. Friendliness is not a trait of mine, it is part of who I am, and that is why meeting new people is one of my favorite things. As part of the 2008 NJASC State Board, I cannot describe how excited I am for this year to begin. I am ready to start creating memories that will last a lifetime.
