Hey New Jersey! I’m Mary Furgione, and I am ecstatic to be your Executive Member of Special Projects! I am a sophomore at Oakcrest High School in the best part of the state…the SOUTH! People say I am the funniest person they know…well, actually they don’t, but I wish they did. But, I do laugh…a lot. Often uncontrollably, for several minutes at a time.

I got involved with Student Council my freshmen year, and I have been committed to it ever since. Through Student Council, I have made friendships that will last a lifetime and have learned many lessons that will stick with me forever. All my hard work led me to the Winter Convention, then to LTC, and then to the distinguished state board of 2010! Aside from Student Council, I gained valuable leadership experience as Freshmen and Sophomore Class President. This role put me in a position to plan and coordinate Oakcrest pep rallies and events such as Mr. Oakcrest, Haunted Walk, Lip Sync, Stall Day, 21 Down Dance and the Buddy Walk. I also play tennis and golf; I’m a drama member and appeared in our school’s rendition of High School Musical.

Student Council holds a special place in my heart. I wouldn’t be at this accomplished position without my family, advisors, teachers, friends, student council, and you. So, thank you! Within this next year, I hope to influence all of you in the same way that all of these people have.
