LTC 2009 - Testimonials

Click on the links below to read testimonials from the delegates of our 2009 Leadership Training Conference...

"I had an excellent time at LTC and I hope to attend it next year as well.  LTC gave me many new and fun ideas for our school to help raise money for our school and different charites. I made many new friends that I had a great time with and hope to keep contact with. One of the things that I got a lot out of was how to speak to a large crowd. I feel a lot more comfertable talking to a large group of people since I learned the right way to do it. I really enjoyed LTC, it was a fun learning experience!"

Jessica Carey
Bordentown Regional Middle School
Bordentown, NJ

"Let me first just thank you for the experience. I have attended camps before but none of them will ever compare to my LTC experience. I learned so much at LTC, not only about how to improve my leadership skills but about myself. I'm a self concise person at times but LTC really allowed me to be outgoing and crazy and not afraid to be myself. The skills I learned will be a huge help when school runs around in September. LTC has definitely changed me and I look forward to applying to be a junior counselor."

Courtney Campbell
Holy Cross High School
Delran, NJ

"My LTC experience was very enjoyable because of the new leadership skills I learned and the new friends I made. In 4 days I learned important skills that will benefit my school and myself - how to speak with confidence andease, communicate with others, and how to keep organized during a meeting. LTC has made me a better leader, it has taught me how to connect and work with others as a team. In addition, I made lots of new friends from different parts of New Jersey. It was interesting to learn how alike and how different some student councils are. My LTC experience was very delightful though I was disappointed to leave so soon, I knew that I will pass on the concepts I learned to my fellow leaders and I will remember and stay in touch with the new friends I made at LTC. LTC is one experience I will always remember."

Sneha Salgam
Thomas Grover Middle School
Princeton Junction, NJ

"LTC was great! Everything about it was nice, fun, and amazing. The classes were great and the activities were really interesting, fun, and cool...you meet so many new people and make so many new friends. It was really fun to step out of yourself and just have fun. I want to give thanks to everyone that put this together! I learned so much on how to be a great leader and to do many more things as a leader. I enjoyed everything and wish that i could of been longer."

Victoria Perez
Bayonne High School
Bayonne, NJ

"LTC was very fun, and helpful to my life [as a student leader]. Before I went to LTC, I was scared that I was going to fail as [Student Council] Vice President at my school. After this session of LTC, I feel much more confident about my job now."

Gregory Edmond
Kawameeh Middle School
Union, NJ

"LTC was probably the best camp I've ever been to. Throughout the entire time, I never felt that I had to be anyone except myself. The friends I made will carry with me the rest of my life, and there are so many things I can bring back to my own town. I want to thank everyone I met for being awesome friends, all the SC's for teaching us, the JC's for making every moment fun, and everybody who helped keep LTC alive."

Julia Bieber
Edison Intermediate School
Westfield, NJ

"Imagine four straight days of dancing, singing, utter joy, and most importantly bonding, and you will get a glimpse into what an incredible experience LTC was. From the first step you are greeted with warm cheers and awaiting arms to welcome you into what will be one of the most fun times of your life. Being entirely honest I was not looking forward to LTC, I did not know what to expect and I had predetermined I was not going to like it. However I can assure that, regardless of your predispositions, the sheer jovial attitude of the camp will permeate and in no time at all you will be loving the place like everyone around you. My counselors were fantastic, my brothers and sisters from my townhouse and color group were unforgettable...I will become a more active member in my student council than ever before, thanks to the inspirational and informative classes/seminars taken throughout the week."

Teague Brody-Carney
Haddon Heights High School
Haddon Heights, NJ

"I had a great time at LTC and hope to be chosen as a JC. I have learned so much from LTC, like how not to be afraid and to open up and have a good time regardless of who's watching. [At LTC] I also learned to be a strong confident leader and to make sure that you have control. After watching the wonderful leaders and staff from LTC it has helped me to become a better leader. Thank you so much for that wonderful experience and hope to see you soon!"

Brittany Bice
Bordentown Regional Middle School
Bordentown, NJ

"LTC was an experience of a lifetime for me.  I made two awesome friends who are now close to me and I still contact them.  LTC taught me great fundraising ideas and many leadership skills. Another thing I really liked was all the spirit, at the beginning I was shy and afraid to "let my soul shine". At the end I was standing up and dancing on tables at lunchtime!  I will always remember LTC and the things it taught me!  Thanks so much!"

Margaret MacArthur
Thomas Grover Middle School
Princeton Junction, NJ

"My experience at LTC truly made a difference. The junior and senior counselors displayed positive attitudes that definitely motivated me to confidently communicate my ideas. I learned to take my leadership skills to the next level for Student Council, along with the rest of my life. Being in an environment and interacting with so many goal-oriented people made the classes and activities even more effective. LTC was not only a blast, but a great learning experience I will never forget."

Stephanie Flank
Washington Township High School
Sewell, NJ

"LTC was one of the greatest experiences of my life.  I will always remember Songfest, Get Acquainted games, and all of the lessons and skills I learned in order to become a better leader. It was the busiest four days I have ever had, and I enjoyed every second of them. The Senior and Junior counselors were always energetic and made the atmosphere fun all the time. Our townhouse became a family, and by day four I could trust them with my life. I would love to go (T) H.E.R.E again, because it was an amazing four days that I will never forget."

Stefanie Urso
Nutley High School
Nutley, NJ

"Being at LTC with Junior Counselors who are not afraid to have fun, senior counselors who share their knowledge, and all of the delegates was an amazing part of my summer this year...LTC was a break to get away from home and just have fun with new people. Meeting new people was great, I met so many new friends that I still talk to today. Most of the fundraising ideas that we discussed I have already taken to my school. I'm so excited to share everything we learned at LTC this year with my student council! I haven't forgotten my experiences at LTC and hope that I never do!"

Taylor Ambruso
Stewartsville Middle School
Stewartsville, NJ

"It was a true honor to be part of the LTC 2 pilot program during Session 2. Coming back for a second time made me feel comfortable and relaxed with ease...I will definitely continue to use the advice that I learned from Senior Counselors in my future endeavors. I would personally like to thank all of the LTC 2 delegates for making my experience phenomenal! With the help of "The Green Squad," I was able to make new friends while increasing my confidence...I'll never forget my experiences at LTC these past two years, and I will miss all of the Junior and Senior Counselors. LTC is an inspirational program and I will always keep it close to my heart! Hopefully, I will be able return as a counselor in the future."

Dan McGrath
Lacey Township High School
Lanoka Harbor, NJ

"I had the time of my life at LTC! I cannot wait to incorporate the things I learned into my school and community. In four short days I gained friendships that will last a lifetime, confidence that will enhance my life, and skills to really improve my school, not just our student council.  I will try my best to make other clubs aware of the NJASC and the wonderful things they do to help students and schools in New Jersey. LTC was a great growing experience where I got to meet people with similar interests and find great new programs to implement at home. When everyone says LTC can profoundly change your life, they aren’t kidding around!"

Lindsey Craig
Oakcrest High School
Mays Landing, NJ

"The pilot program of LTC 2 was amazing. I've grown a lot closer with the "Green Cult" and still share a strong bond with them, something that can never be broken. The classes were a lot more in-depth compared to the first time I attended LTC. I learned how to deal with a lot more ethical issues, such as those involving stereotypes and racism. It helped me understand how to deal with people on a personal level and as a leader. I strongly recommend going to LTC 2 for anyone that went to LTC."

Andy Kakkaramadam
Parsippany Hills High School
Morris Plains, NJ

"Coming to LTC, I was hesitant. I didn't know if the people would like me, if I would fit in, or if I'd even have a good time. Let's just say I was totally wrong. Once I got there, I realized that "H.E.R.E. is where I'm supposed to be!". I met people who were so similar, yet unique in their own way. I couldn't help but fall in love with all the different people. The friendships I made caused me great pain to leave, but I know we'll definitely keep in touch. I can positively say that LTC made me a better person all around. I'm a better leader, a better teacher, a better listener, a better communicator, and a better friend. Without LTC, I wouldn't be the person I came home being. I love LTC and can't imagine my life without it now!"

Kelsey Anderson
South Brunswick High School
Monmouth Junction, NJ

"The first thing I noticed when arriving at LTC was the great, ebullient energy that surrounded me. This created a lively, peaceful environment, but I wondered how they maintained such high-spirits 24/7 with even more ready for the next day. After four amazing days, I got my answer and it became one of the most important lessons I took home. Their key was passion. Throughout my four days at camp, I was taught that passion is a main factor for all successes whether it's conducting a meeting, public speaking, or even meeting new people because passion is what drives us to do more with ourselves and be able to reach out to others who share a similar likeness...I learned how to bring out my passion more for Student Council and I'm now more willing to openly express my desire to help others by extending it to my community and school through my service as Class President and Treasurer of FBLA...I would recommend LTC for anyone who wants to make a difference in their lives during their summer and have the best, four day experience of their life!"

Kyung Sun Lee
High Point Regional High School
Sussex, NJ

"I have learned so much from LTC. Before I got there I was shy, then as I saw everybody from the LTC staff greeting everyone that they never meet, made me encouraged more to not be scared to meet new people. I will always remember my time at LTC."

Gustavo Ibarra
Clayton High School
Clayton, NJ

"I am not afraid to say that LTC 2 has completely changed my life...I had the most fun anyone could have ever had...more advanced classes definetely helped me out this year as the Lacey Township High School Student Government Association President...the "Green Team" will never be forgotten. We became the best of friends, and still stay in touch to this day...We passed around so many different ideas that even if the time spent in high school was doubled, I still wouldn't be able to use them all because there were so many. This experience definetely surpassed LTC just because we went further with everything and got to be the ones who already knew what was going to happen...I will never forget my time at LTC, but my time at LTC 2 will run through my head every single day, I could never ask for a more valuable experience."

Brittany Knoerdel
Lacey Township High School
Lanoka Harbor, NJ

"I'm so glad I went back for LTC 2. I made so many friends I'll never forget and connections to help me through life. LTC is the only place you can walk into a room full of strangers and feel comfortable sharing your secrets. I learned so much and had the most fun I've ever had. It was truly the best experience of my life."

Gina DeAngelo
Bordentown Regional High School
Bordentown, NJ

"LTC was such a great experience. The leadership camp helped me learn how to speak and talk in front of large crowds, how to express my inner self and branch out to meet others. I am very thankful that Mrs. Sitzler [advisor] thought of the idea to send me to LTC. LTC was an experience I will always remember."

Ryan Butler
Palmyra High School
Palmyra, NJ

"Being surrounded by a group of Junior Counselors not afraid to be themselves, Senior Counselors not afraid to share their knowledge, and a group of people with a common positive purpose gave me the motivation, dedication and inspiration needed to pursue what I told myself was the greatest gift imaginable (leadership). I will be taking back fundraising ideas, community service projects and friendships but most importantly I will take back the easiest and most effective concept - that being yourself with a positive attitude (and possibly a little persuasion with a circle game) will capture the "good" hearts of many and can lead the world. The proof of this is everyone on this page."

Alexandria Grant
Cherokee High School
Marlton, NJ

"I'm so glad to have been part of LTC 2! I thought that nothing could be more fun and inspirational than my first experience with LTC, but I was pleasantly surprised when LTC 2 proved to be even more memorable. I made so many new friends in the "Green Squad" that have helped me plan for success this coming school year. The classes were more in-depth than those in the first LTC, and I would definitely recommend LTC 2 to anyone interested. Hopefully next year I'll be back as a JC!"

Angelica Suarez
Parsippany Hills High School
Morris Plains, NJ

"LTC has truly changed my life...classes were unbelievably helpful, boosted my confidence as a leader, and had incredible teachers... the classes completely washed away my main fears of being a leader such as public speaking and coming up with new, fresh, creative ideas. The olympics, circle games, dance, assemblies, skit night, talent show, etc. were the most fun that I have EVER had. The JCs were phenomenal at keeping energy and spirits high...not once did I ever feel bored or homesick. The entire time I felt I could be myself and express who I was...Making new friends was so easy and I met some great ones...I truly and honestly loved every second of LTC, from the second I arrived to the second I had to unfortunately leave, and was in tears. I could've easily stayed forever. LTC was the experience of a lifetime and one I will surely NEVER forget...I hope to become a JC so I can be part of LTC again and again.  Thank you to everyone at LTC for this experience. I am a changed person because of it."

Gianna Pianoforte
Markham Place School
Little Silver, NJ

"My first year at LTC was definitely one of my best experiences, and LTC 2 proved to be just as great, if not better.  I was able to expand on the skills I learned my first time at LTC and develop new ones.  It really gave me something I felt I could being back and apply to my school as well as the rest of my life.  The people in our "Green Team" were probably some of the most amazing people I've ever met in my life.  They all gave me not only fun times and memories, but also their own stories and experiences in ways they thought could help me in my own life.  I'll never forget my four brief days at LTC 2, and I highly encourage anyone who had fun at LTC their first time around to come back for more.  It was undoubtedly worth it for me, and I thank everyone who made it such a wonderful experience."

Mike Fynan
Holy Cross High School

"There are not a lot of experiences that can alter your high school career and even into adulthood, but LTC defied those odds and will forever be embedded in my mind. Within only four days, I made friendships that will never be forgotten and have grown in so many ways as a leader. LTC gave me the drive to make my school the best it can possibly be; the only way it can reach that level is if they have strong leaders. The delegates from my school and I now have the knowledge to transform our school in the most positive way possible. Beyond that, when I enter the work force, I know all these skills will help me there as well. I hope so come back to LTC again, and again. It was truly an experience of a lifetime."

"I was so nervous on my way to LTC. I wasn't sure what it was going to be like. Four incredibly short days later I was sitting on my sit-upon, almost crying as we sang songs and said all our good byes. LTC was the best four days I've ever had! Where else can you go and sing songs about alligators, scream at the top of your lungs, dance on your chairs and not have anyone stare at you funny, because they're all doing it too? I loved the games we played and the songs we sang. The JCs were great and the SCs made the classes fun and informative. In such a short time we did so much at LTC. I wasn't even out of the parking lot on the last day when I started thinking "I want to go back." It was a great experience and I'm so happy I got to be a part of it."

"This camp did so many things for me. I never knew how to organize a good schedule for the day, but Welsh helped me out so much. Also, Brando taught me how to handle situations in that the solution might not appeal to everyone, but you know that it's the right to thing to do. I made so many friends at LTC, too - I was so close with the girls in my town house by the end that I didn't want to leave! In the Communications Workshop, I got close with the older kids in my class. I also loved all the games we played, songfests, and the "Olympics" (GO ORANGE!!!) that we played in. In this coming year, I have so much to share with my fellow classmates. I'm going to bring my binder to every meeting and that will help me guide my classmates and student council to become a better school than we already are. I absolutly loved tis camp and I'm dying to come back to LTC 2!"

"Everyone who went said LTC will change your life, I didn't believe them until I actually experienced it...and believe me, they weren't kidding! At LTC I learned so many new things to help my board and myself, which came back with me to my school and was put to good use. The classes were AMAZING, and not only did I learn but I had so much fun too...the LTC games (go orange!), songfests, the dance, and JCs ROCK! I made so many new friends who live all over New Jersey, I love the girls who were in the town house with me, we had so much fun together and we are so much closer than I thought we would be. It's been months since LTC and we still talk, I'm so happy that we are still so close! I love LTC and the people involved in it, and am grateful to be involved in something so amazing. I can not wait to come back to TCNJ for LTC 2!"

"At first, I didnt know what to expect from LTC...once the first day was over, I knew that the experience was going to be beneficial for me.  At the end of the night, we were left with the saying that we would all be different people by the end of the four short days together.  I didnt believe it at first, but in all honesty, I feel that LTC was one of the most moving experiences in my life.  Everyone was so supportive and everyone cared about everyone else's ideas.  There were no stupid ideas and everything was worth saying. I learned life skills that I could never have learned anywhere else. We learned how to brainstorm for fundraising and many other things including successfully talking in front of a group of people. Not only did we learn skills that will last us a lifetime, we also made a tremendous amounts of friends...LTC was an escape from home, school, stress, and the frustration of everyday life.  I have brought back many ideas to my school, and they have been successfully put into action.  Overall, I felt that this experience was a phenomenal team bonding experience and a great memory that I will keep for the rest of my life."
