NJASC Advisors Update - June 9, 2009
Here is the latest news about what is going on in your state Student Council association, and what you need to know for our upcoming events...
HAPPY JUNE!!!
LTC 2009 - there is still room for your students!
It is not too late to get your student leaders registered for the 54th annual NJASC Leadership Training Conference (LTC). This event will take place at The College of New Jersey, with Session 1 from (Wed-Sat.) July 15-18 and Session 2 from (Sun-Wed.) July 19-22.
Next month, we look forward to welcoming nearly 300 student leaders in grades 6-12 from throughout New Jersey to a unique leadership experience they'll never forget! Right now is the perfect time to ensure that your student leaders are among them!
We still have room in both sessions, and will continue open enrollment for new delegates throughout the month of June. We also still have spaces available in the brand new "LTC 2" program, that will prepare student leaders that have already attended LTC for advanced leadership as high school upperclassmen and beyond. To learn more about LTC and why your student leaders should be a part of it, CLICK HERE to view testimonials from student leaders that attended LTC 2008 last summer or visit the LTC Section of our website.
The registration cost for LTC (or LTC 2) is only $350.00 per delegate - which includes lodging, meals, and all course materials. While it's not too late, time is beginning to run short - if you have not reserved spaces at LTC (or LTC 2) for your school or wish to reserve additional spaces, please e-mail Wendy at wbsitzler@njasc.org as soon as possible.
For those of you who have already reserved spaces at LTC, we are asking you to please submit all of your Delegate Registration Forms to the Southern Office at Palmyra HS by June 30 so that we can make final preparations for each session. If you need to obtain a form, you can visit www.njasc.org or use one of the convenient links below...
LTC Delegate Registration Form This form is for any Middle Level or High School delegate that will be attending LTC for the first time. |

LTC 2 Delegate Registration Form In order to attend LTC 2, a delegate must have already attended the standard LTC program in a prior year, and must be at least a Sophomore in September 2009. |
Online Registration - now for Membership, too!
The new Online Registration system that we implemented for last month's Spring Awards Program at Six Flags Great Adventure worked great! Thank you for your cooperation and adjustment to this new system, which made it much easier for us to process registration information and streamlined operations at the ticket kiosk.
For 2009-2010, we will be using this online system for membership as well as conference registration. We will open the link to our new Online Membership Registration Form in early August. It is easy to use - just click on the link (we will provide the link through e-mail as well as the website), enter the required information, and click submit. You will then receive a confirmation e-mail that you can send with the $60.00 annual membership dues to our Southern Office at Palmyra HS.
If you have any questions about our Online Registration and Membership system or the NJASC website, please e-mail Lou at lmiller@njasc.org.
Complement your NJASC experience by joining the National Association of Student Councils!
Your principal will soon receive a 2009-2010 membership form for the National Association of Student Councils (NASC).
NJASC is the recognized New Jersey state affiliate of NASC, a program sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). We encourage all of our NJASC member schools to join and take advantage of the many opportunities provided by NASC to enhance their overall Student Council program and experience.
Membership in NASC provides several benefits, including the opportunity to actively participate in national level programs such as Council of Excellence and Certified Student Leader. NJASC can submit a high school and middle level nominee each year - including our state Advisor of the Year - to be considered for the annual NASC Warren E. Shull National Advisor of the Year award.
Membership in NASC also offers you and your student leaders the opportunity to join our NJASC state delegation at regional LEAD Conferences and the annual NASC National Conference. Right now, our delegation of 6 advisors and 18 student leaders is making final preparations for the 2009 NASC National Conference at Highlands Ranch High School in Denver.
To learn more about what membership in NASC can add to the NJASC Student Council experience for you and your student leaders, please visit the NASC website at www.nasc.us, or e-mail Lou at lmiller@njasc.org.
Make sure you stay connected!
The last thing you may want to think about right now is next year, but we are asking you to please help us to seamlessly maintain the lines of communication between NJASC and your Student Council. We want to make sure that your school continues to receive timely information about your state Student Council association and its' upcoming events through our Advisors
E-Mail Distribution list.
To ensure there is no interrpution of service, we are asking you at this time to please e-mail Lou at lmiller@njasc.org if you or your school has any of the following changes for next year...
- New or additional advisor? Please send Lou the new advisor's name and e-mail address as soon as you know it so we can keep your school informed on what is happening in your state Student Council association.
- E-mail address changes? - please send Lou your name and new e-mail address, so you will not miss a thing.
If you are no longer an advisor and wish to be taken off our distribution list, please e-mail Lou with your name and school.
Finally, we would like to thank you for your support of the NJASC and student leaders throughout New Jersey this past school year. We look forward to working with your student leaders at LTC next month, and hope you have a great summer!
Watch for our annual mailing in early September, which will contain a new brochure about the benefits of LTC and NJASC membership!
