NJASC Advisors Update - September 24, 2009
Here is the latest news about what is going on in your state Student Council association, and what you need to know for our upcoming events...
Have you joined your State Association for 2009-2010 yet?
Over one hundred schools have already submitted their membership registration, taking the first step toward a year full of exciting leadership opportunities at the state and national level...
If your school is among them - CLICK HERE to view an updated list - thank you! If not, you still have time to complete your online registration for 2009-2010 NJASC Membership. We are asking you to do so as soon as possible, since we are now in the process of updating our membership records and would like to have the most current information for you and your school on file in time for the Fall Business Meeting on October 13.
One thing we are looking to update at this time are our records for the years of service that you have attained as an advisor. A field for this is included in the online registration form, for both a primary and co-advisor. While we have many veterans advising student leaders in New Jersey, there seem to be a number of new advisors coming in to the profession and we are trying to get a read on the overall experience of you as a group so we can plan programs accordingly.
To renew - or start - your NJASC membership for 2009-2010, just use the link provided below, enter the required information, and click submit. You will then receive a confirmation e-mail that you can send with your $60.00 annual dues payment to our Southern Office at Palmyra HS. You can also access the online form through our website - links to it are on the home page and forms page.

Prepare for NJASC Award Programs NOW!
Each Fall, there are a number of NJASC Award Programs through which your school and student leaders can receive recognition at the state level...
NJASC award programs recognize excellence in student leadership, outstanding projects, and meeting state or nationally recognized criteria with regard to council operations.
At the Fall Business Meeting, we will be releasing the application forms for several awards. They will be in your school packet, or you can CLICK HERE to download them after October 13.
Therefore, now is the time to prepare your Student Council for...
- Honor School - honors those Student Councils that have attained state and/or nationally recognized criteria with regard to overall council operations.
- Top Ten Projects - recognizes outstanding projects in the following categories: Educational, Fundraising, Service, School Spirit, Middle Level.
- Middle Level Student Leader of the Year - recognizes an outstanding student leader at the middle school level.
- High School Student Leader of the Year - recognizes an outstanding student leader at the high school level.
We encourage all member schools to carefully review and submit applications for each NJASC award program. They are a great way to self-evaluate your program, and to gain recognition for your school and its' student leaders. When submitting applications, please be sure to adhere to all stated deadlines - as the State Officers will not consider any applications submitted late.
We hope your school year is off to a great start. We and the State Officers look forward to seeing you at TCNJ on Tuesday October 13!
