By the way...

It's NOT too late to join us for the 2010 Winter Convention!

The 84th annual NJASC Winter Convention will be on Wednesday January 6, 2010 at The College of New Jersey. At this event, over 1500 student leaders and advisors will be part of the following:

  • Campaigning for 2010 State Office
  • Award Presentations
  • Advisor Years of Service Recognition (new!)
  • Keynote Speaker - Alvin Law
  • 2010 State Office Candidate Speeches & Election
  • Workshop Sessions (see below)
  • Advisors' Workshop & Luncheon
  • LTC Reunion
  • Much, much, more!

Our keynote speaker will be Alvin Law, who will bring his inspiring story all the way from Calgary, Alberta and share with you "Alvin's Laws of Life".

Alvin was one of over 13,000 babies around the world deformed in the early 1960's due to the drug Thalidomide. Alvin was born without arms after his birth mother, thinking it was completely safe, used just a couple of the pills and their lives were forever altered. Given up for adoption only days after his birth, there was not much hope at the time. However, Alvin amazed his adoptive parents as he learned to use his feet for everything, and the rest is history...

Today, Alvin is a completely independent professional speaker, musician, father, and proof that out of nothing can arise one of the most inspiring stories you will hear. Learn more at www.alvinlaw.com, and we look forward to welcoming him to the Garden State in January.

We still need volunteers to conduct student workshops for both middle level and high school students - please consider having your students share the great things happening in your school. A link to our online workshop presenter application form is presented below:

Just like in past years, there will be three workshop sessions following the keynote so that students will be able to attend and/or present workshops and still participate in the LTC Reunion. This schedule also allows flexibility in terms of when students can eat, an all-you-can-eat Lunch Buffet will be available for purchase at Eickhoff Dining Hall. We will reconvene for a second general session at 2:10 p.m., to announce the 2010 State Officers. After the new State Officers are sworn in, the convention will end at 2:30 p.m.

Online registration remains open, with a cost of only $15.00 per student and advisor. We encourage all of our member schools to take part in this annual event. A link to our online registration form is presented below:

Featured speakers and programs will include Bob Lenz, the "Quiet Riot" brothers Bill & David Mettler, along with student workshops and advisor training sessions.
